Replacing Analog Staff Timekeeping with Digital

The Problem: Indianapolis Public Works’ administrative and staff workers were overburdened, trapped in an archaic battle with 550 separate timecards every Friday afternoon to ensure all paychecks were distributed on time, and without error—but disrupting the system to implement a new one was risky, and would involve workforce-wide cooperation.

The Solution: We studied the system and devised a dependable, high-tech solution perfectly suited to the department’s work culture and rhythms, mitigating problems (such as staff pushback or infrastructure issues) that may have otherwise resulted in a slow adoption. The result: management staff can devote more time to leading, clerical staff are no longer bogged down by tasks they were once forced to neglect, and staff are consistently paid on time.
